How listings work
Missoula Tonight lists things you can go out and do with other people: live shows, dance nights, game nights, community events, and food trucks. This page covers where listings come from, how often they update, and what to do when something looks wrong.
What gets listed
We list events where being with people is the point:
- live music and DJ nights
- trivia, bingo, karaoke, open mics, and game nights
- plays, comedy, readings, drag, and improv
- community events like First Friday and street festivals
- food truck stops
We skip classes, lectures, screenings, watch parties, kids’ programming, sales events, and worship services. Many of those are worthwhile, but they fall outside what this site is for.
Where listings come from
Listings are built from public sources: venue websites and calendars, ticket pages, venue social accounts, and community calendars. Every event page links its sources, so you can check the venue’s own posting before you head out.
When listings update
Listings refresh twice a day, around 9 am and 4 pm Mountain time. A show announced in the morning usually shows up by the afternoon refresh.
Changes and cancellations
When a venue cancels or moves a show, the listing is marked as soon as our sources show the change. Listings that drop off their sources get retired.
What can go wrong
We miss things. Some venues have no working calendar, and some shows only spread by word of mouth. Times, prices, and lineups can shift after we list them. If the details matter, check the source links on the event page.
